Regenerer

Our hair can be lush and attractive on the head, but when it pops up on other areas of your body, it can be unsightly. Removing unwanted hair on your hands, arms, legs, feet, chest, back, and bikini lines can be challenging. From shaving and epilation to hot waxes and creams. Various methods of hair removal work differently for different people. But with so many hair removal options available, it can be hard to figure out what’s best. If you’re looking for the gold standard that gives you a silky-smooth finish, you can’t go past Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
hair removal. Regenerer IPL hair removal treatments safely and effectively remove hair from all areas of your face and body.

What is IPL hair removal?

IPL hair removal uses specific wavelengths of light to target the hair follicles which produce your unwanted hair. Your hair absorbs the light within the follicle and heats up to destroy the growth centre of the follicle. Within a few weeks of treatment, your treated hairs shed. It’s important to note that while IPL hair removal is effective, it only treats your hair during the “growth phase”. Over subsequent treatments, your hair growth reduces and can even be eliminated for silky-smooth results. At Regenerer our highly trained team of registered nurses, IPL qualified specialists and dermal therapists are experienced in IPL hair removal treatment. We tailor your treatment plan to eradicate hair from all areas of your body and face.

How does IPL hair removal work?

Our fully trained therapists use a specially designed handpiece on your treatment area. By harnessing the energy produced by light, IPL hair removal treatment targets and heats your hair follicles. This results in the follicle coagulating and being unable to produce new hair growth. The pulsed light that’s delivered in multiple waves targets all types of hair on every type of skin tone without damaging the surrounding skin. IPL hair removal needs to be performed during your hair’s “growth phase”.

IPL hair removal treatment is non-invasive and feels like an elastic band being gently flicked against your skin. Most clients consider IPL hair removal treatment as a lot less painful than hot waxing.

How effective is IPL hair removal?

If you’re looking for a way to achieve silky-smooth, hair-free skin, IPL hair removal is considered the gold standard. IPL hair removal is an easy, safe, painless, non-invasive, and quick solution to eliminate unwanted hair on your face or body. Once you’ve completed your IPL hair removal treatment cycle, you can look forward to having smooth skin with only the occasional maintenance treatment.

The benefits of IPL hair removal include:

  • Safe, pain-free, and effective technology performed by highly trained specialists
  • Reduces the chance of ingrown hairs and uncomfortable shaving rashes
  • Permanently reduces unwanted hair on your body and face

How often can I receive this treatment?

The number of IPL treatments you’ll need depends on your hair and skin type. To achieve silky-smooth results, most clients require a series of 6 to 12 IPL hair removal treatments. We suggest you space your IPL hair removal treatments out 4 weeks apart initially before extending them to 8 weeks apart. After your initial IPL hair removal treatment to maintain silky-smooth skin, you’ll need to have maintenance IPL treatments every 6 and 12 months.

Is IPL permanent?

IPL hair removal treats hair follicles over the course of your treatments to permanently remove them. It’s important to note that not all hair follicles will be in the “growth phase” at the same time. Some of your follicles may be dormant for up to 12 months before hair is produced. Most clients achieve an 80% reduction in hair being permanently reduced. After your initial course of IPL hair removal treatments, we recommend follow-up maintenance treatments at 6 and 12 months.

How to prepare for my IPL treatment?

To get the best possible result from your IPL hair removal, it’s important to prepare your hair and skin beforehand. Perhaps the most important thing to do is to protect your skin from sun exposure for at least 6 weeks before treatment. Other steps to take to prepare for your IPL hair removal treatment include:

  • Exfoliate and moisturise daily. Any dry skin will form a barrier to the IPL laser hair device. By removing any dry skin and keeping it soft, the light will be able to penetrate your skin more easily
  • If you currently wax the treatment area, we suggest you wax 3 weeks before your first treatment. By doing this, you’ll remove any dry, old hairs that are in the follicle.
  • Cleanly shave the treatment area 18-24 hours before your appointment. This will minimise the likelihood of ingrown hairs appearing.
  • Remove all traces of fake tan. IPL hair removal treatment cannot be performed on any client who has fake tan because the extra pigment increases the risks of your skin burning.
  • Avoid plucking, hair removal creams, and electrolysis at least 4 weeks before your IPL hair removal treatment. This will ensure your hair follicles are at the same growth length stage.
  • Wash off all deodorant, cream, and moisturisers on the day of your treatment.

What is the difference between IPL and laser?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal uses a broad spectrum of light over multiple wavelengths that pulse into your skin to target hair follicles at multiple depths. Laser technology uses a single focused wavelength to target hair follicles at one depth. While laser technology targets, heats, and damages hair follicles, unlike IPL it can’t permanently remove hair.
